Nintendo recently announced a milestone, revealing that over 146.04 million Nintendo Switch consoles have been purchased globally.
During the six months leading up to September 30, 2024, the company sold 4.72 million units. While this is a 31 percent drop compared to the previous year, Nintendo emphasized that sales remain strong when compared to other Nintendo platforms in their eighth year on the market.
On the software front, Nintendo has achieved a landmark figure, with more than 1.3 billion Nintendo Switch games sold, setting a new benchmark for a Nintendo gaming device. According to the company, the Switch has seen more software play than any of their other hardware platforms.
Curious about which games are topping the popularity charts? Mario Kart 8 Deluxe takes the lead with 64.27 million copies sold. Following closely are Animal Crossing: New Horizons with 46.45 million copies, and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate with 35.14 million sold. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild has reached 32.29 million sales, Super Mario Odyssey has sold 28.50 million copies, and Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield together have hit 26.44 million in sales.
Moreover, Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet have achieved 25.69 million sales, and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has moved 21.04 million copies. Super Mario Party has sold 20.98 million, while New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe rounds out the list with 17.77 million copies sold.
