Stress Level Zero has been riding high with the success of their sandbox hit BONELAB on Quest. Yet, fans have noticed that their earlier gem, the physics-driven BONEWORKS, still hasn’t made its way to Meta’s latest standalone devices—until now, that is.
For those who aren’t familiar, Boneworks is an immersive VR experience that takes you on an action-packed journey, using cutting-edge physics to create a truly dynamic virtual world. It’s a game where you’ll be navigating intriguing environments, battling with physics-based combat, and solving puzzles with innovative approaches, all wrapped in a captivating narrative.
In a recent announcement on X (formerly Twitter), Brandon Laatsch, co-founder of the studio, shared exciting plans for the year 2025. This includes developing new patches for their Marrow Engine, the physics platform they built using Unity, and importantly, the launch of Boneworks on the Quest 3 and the upcoming Quest 3S.
Curious to see Boneworks in action on the Quest 3? Catch a glimpse of it here:
Laatsch laid out some ambitious 2025 goals, saying, “Release Patch 7, 8, 9 for Bonelab with Marrow 2, 2.1, 2.2. Bring Boneworks to Quest 3 in parallel on Marrow 2.” He also hinted at exciting pre-production stages for their next game venture, emphasizing their focus on compatibility through Marrow’s advancements. Despite Boneworks being a close relative to Bonelab, it’s a project full of complexities. Godspeed, Stress Level Zero!
It’s worth noting that even before this official adaptation, Quest users with Quest 2 and newer models have been enjoying Boneworks through a community-crafted mod called ‘Labworks.’
Brandon is clear about one thing: they have no plans to remove Labworks, a project that took indie developer ‘volx64’ two years to bring to life. Laatsch assured fans that the upcoming Marrow Engine integration will significantly enhance the original Boneworks experience, offering more than just a straightforward port.
The actual launch date is still under wraps, but rest assured, we’re closely monitoring Brandon’s X posts and Stress Level Zero’s YouTube updates for any hints of what’s to come.
