There’s an exciting new addition coming to Overwatch 2, a mode called Stadium, that introduces some thrilling changes to gameplay. At its core, Stadium gives players Mods, a fresh mechanic that lets you enhance your character’s stats and abilities step by step, enabling you to craft unique builds. Picture this: you’re in a high-stakes match that shifts rapidly between maps and modes, all part of a best-of-seven showdown. Each round kicks off with players accessing an armory, where they can spend points earned in previous rounds to boost their hero’s traits and skills.
Imagine giving Reaper the ability to fly while in Wraith Form, or extending Soldier: 76’s healing station range while it powers up allies within its zone. Even Kiriko can teleport across the map sans targeting an ally. According to Blizzard, Stadium captures the ultimate fantasy of each hero, turning their abilities up to wild levels of power and excitement.
One of the standout features of Stadium is its shift to a third-person perspective. Blizzard has made this change to reduce screen clutter, which tends to grow as abilities are upgraded over the course of the match. Initially, the mode will feature 14 heroes, with plans to gradually include the rest of the roster. Keep an eye on our site, as we’ll soon share our impressions of this intriguing mode.
