Krafton, the Korean gaming company, has initiated another round of layoffs at Striking Distance Studios, the team behind The Callisto Protocol. The situation came to light through LinkedIn posts, as affected employees expressed their disappointment over the recent job cuts. Following this, Krafton confirmed the reductions to PC Gamer but assured that the studio is still up and running.
A Krafton spokesperson explained, “Striking Distance Studios has scaled down its team size to maintain agility, fostering a sustainable environment given the current phase of development.” They went on to affirm, “The studio continues to operate, and these adjustments will not affect any planned ongoing support. There are no additional changes anticipated at this point.”
Back in 2023, Striking Distance had already cut 32 jobs, which accounted for about 20% of their staff then. Glen Schofield, an industry veteran from Sledgehammer, founded the studio in 2019, and they launched their first game, The Callisto Protocol, in 2022.
