XR Games, recognized for their work on Hitman 3 VR: Reloaded (2024) and Starship Troopers Continuum (2024), has unveiled an exciting new rhythm game for Quest named BEATABLE. This innovative game takes advantage of hand-tracking technology to transform any table into a dynamic musical instrument.
Usually, when you align your physical surroundings with virtual elements, it heightens the immersive experience, allowing you to sense the virtual world in a more tangible way. Beatable elevates this experience by enabling you to use your table as an instrument. You can engage with the rhythm by tapping, snapping, and clapping directly on the table, turning your surroundings into a form of “real-world haptics” that traditional controller-based rhythm games can’t match.
What sets Beatable apart is its exclusive use of hand-tracking, eliminating the need for controllers. This design choice promises accurate and swift calibration for responsive hand movements, which is crucial when you’re aiming to hit the beat perfectly for maximum points.
Adding to the development team, VR YouTuber and rhythm game aficionado ‘Naysy’ has been brought on board to provide gameplay insights. She also features in the game’s promotional trailer, adding a familiar face to the project.
"I’m hooked on this rhythm game like I haven’t been in ages," Naysy shares enthusiastically. "As a fan of VR rhythm games, I think BEATABLE brings something fresh to the table. The combination of physical interaction and hand-tracking creates an immersive experience that’s just pure fun. I can’t wait for everyone to dive in and enjoy it."
Gamers can look forward to Beatable launching in early access on April 10th for Quest 2 and newer devices. Currently, pre-orders are available at a 10% discount, making the game accessible at just $9.
