A film adaptation of the newly-released game, Split Fiction, is reportedly in the works. Variety revealed this exciting development, mentioning that Story Kitchen is spearheading the project, assembling an ensemble of cast, writers, and a director. This company has previously been involved in bringing Hazelight’s earlier game, It Takes Two, to the screen with Amazon, as well as adaptations for Toejam and Earl, Slime Rancher, and Vampire Survivors.
Numerous offers are reportedly pouring in from many major Hollywood studios, eager to capitalize on the game’s success.
Released in March, Split Fiction took the gaming world by storm, selling one million copies within its first 48 hours, and surpassing two million in just a week. Hazelight expressed their amazement on Bluesky with a post, “Holy crap, we’re blown away! Simply amazing.” They continued, expressing gratitude, “Thank you to all of our new and old fans – we love how excited you are for our game.”
The adaptation of It Takes Two has already attracted big names, with Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson involved and the talented writers behind Sonic the Hedgehog, Pat Casey and Josh Miller, crafting the screenplay.
