Last Thursday, Bigscreen Beyond 2 orders rolled in at a pace that caught everyone by surprise. The PC VR headset maker revealed that its newest, sleek and lightweight device far surpassed the sales of the original in just 24 hours. Remarkably, the first day of Beyond 2’s sales outstripped what Beyond 1 achieved in six months.
We’ve already been dazzled by some statistics related to the launch of Beyond 2. Within just 25 minutes, Beyond 2 managed to eclipse the entire first day sales of Beyond 1. In the span of an hour, it doubled the initial day figures of its predecessor. Amazingly, in only 10 hours, Beyond 2 outsold the original headset’s first four months on the market.
On Friday, in a post on X, Bigscreen’s founder and CEO, Darshan Shankar, shared perhaps the most astounding sales figure yet:
“In the first 24 hours, Beyond 2 has sold a whopping 10 TIMES more than Beyond 1 did on its launch day two years ago. In these initial 24 hours, Beyond 2 equaled what Beyond 1 achieved over its first six months. Truly outstanding.”
According to Shankar, the company managed this feat without spending a dime on advertising. “We didn’t pay influencers to promote our product. We didn’t shell out for a pricey ad campaign. No advertising,” he stated.
They did, however, ship out a handful of early Beyond 2 units to get some buzz going among reviewers. Shankar mentioned that this group consisted of roughly 10 devices that went to notable reviewers like Tested, Thrillseeker, MRTV, and VR Flight Sim Guy.
For those who missed the buzz and are eager to catch up on the latest specs, pricing, and launch schedule, Beyond 2 offers two versions. One includes eye-tracking technology (Beyond 2e) and the other does not (Beyond 2), priced at $1,019 and $1,219 respectively.
Despite boasting the same dual 1-inch 2,560 × 2,560 micro-OLED displays as the original, the standout upgrade is its wider field-of-view (FOV) and enhanced clarity. This is achieved through a new pancake lens design, boosting Beyond 2 to a 116-degree diagonal FOV compared to the original’s 102-degree. It also features an adjustable IPD mechanism in a surprisingly light 107g design.
Initially, shipments for the first batches were slated for April (Beyond 2) and May (Beyond 2e). However, as of this writing, new orders are expected to ship in June.
