In the latest glimpse of Sonic and Robotnik’s teams, something seems a bit off with Robotnik’s group. As Sonic, Knuckles, and a jetpack-equipped Tails dash through Green Hill’s lush forests with ease, the lineup featuring both versions of Robotnik, Shadow, and Agent Stone feels oddly composed. There’s an interesting gap between Stone and Robotnik, drawing curiosity from the viewer. This makes fans wonder: if Sonic the Hedgehog 3 takes after Sonic Adventure 2, how come Rouge the Bat is missing in action?
Rouge, known as the treasure-hunting double agent and Knuckles’ rival from the Dreamcast days, feels sorely missed if she doesn’t make her cinematic debut alongside Shadow. Unless, of course, the filmmakers are pulling a Spider-Man: No Way Home move, editing her or another iconic Sonic character out temporarily to give fans a thrilling surprise at the premiere. There’s also chatter among fans about the possibility of Metal Sonic stepping into that mystery spot. Ever since the first trailer hit, speculation has been rampant that the legendary robo-hedgehog could make his cinematic debut soon, if not in this installment, maybe the next.
If we see Robotnik switching sides in this movie, it might be logical for him to construct Metal Sonic. Still, there’s a concern that the film could feel overcrowded if Paramount crammed in yet another storyline from Sonic, on top of the Adventure 2 adaptation, especially since we’ve already got one villainous hedgehog in the mix. Here’s hoping Rouge makes an appearance!
