Japanese publishing powerhouse, Bandai Namco, has decided to close the doors on its online division, Bandai Namco Online, which admittedly had a very straightforward name.
The company recently revealed that this subsidiary’s operations will now be integrated into the broader Bandai Namco structure. However, there’s still no confirmation on how this transition might impact the employees involved.
Founded back in 2009, Bandai Namco Online was set up to hone in on the company’s online gaming endeavors. Some of its notable projects include titles like Dragon Ball Z: X KeeperZ, Gundam Evolution, and Blue Protocol.
The reason behind the decision to dissolve this part of the business lies in “recent changes in the environment surrounding the game business” and a desire to “strengthen the business management system of the entire digital business,” according to the official statement from Bandai Namco.
In a related development, earlier this year, the company announced that their MMO venture with Amazon, Blue Protocol, would be ceasing operations come January 18th, 2025.
