At today’s Nintendo Treehouse live event, the team from Nintendo unveiled some exciting news: Gamecube titles are heading to Nintendo Switch Online on the upcoming Switch 2. A particularly intriguing moment came when they briefly showcased the options menu—we caught a glimpse of a new optional CRT filter. This is a noteworthy addition since, up until now, the Nintendo 64 is the only other 3D platform available on NSO, and it lacks a CRT filter.
The big question now is whether this filter will adapt to the updated 900p resolution or if it’ll revert to something closer to the original CRT display quality. This addition could potentially hint at a future upgrade for existing Nintendo 64 games on NSO, sparking speculation of them also receiving a CRT filter enhancement. It’s certainly something fans of the classics will be keeping an eye on.
