Warlocks in Destiny 2 won’t be using the exotic Ballidorse Wrathweavers for a while since it’s been pulled due to a bug that drastically boosted damage. Titans, on the other hand, will see a nerf to their Sentinel Shield super in mid-December, again thanks to a glitch causing excessive damage. These decisions from Bungie, the game’s developer, have stirred up quite a debate within the community. Titans can continue enjoying their overpowered super for now, which hasn’t sat well with everyone.
News recently broke that a bug involving the Ballidorse Wraithweavers allowed Shadebinder Warlocks to dish out phenomenal amounts of damage, enough to take out most bosses with a single hit. Bungie quickly took action, removing the exotic gear from play. However, details on when or how this will be resolved remain sparse, leaving Warlock players hanging for the time being.
Meanwhile, ever since Bungie rolled out a significant update coinciding with Episode Revenant’s Act 2, there have been some noteworthy impacts on Destiny 2. The patch sought to amplify roaming supers, which hadn’t gotten much love due to the dominance of burst supers like Golden Gun and Nova Bomb. While the intent was to revitalize certain player builds, it also inadvertently led to some unforeseen outcomes affecting classes.
Bungie also drew attention to the unchecked power of the Titan’s Sentinel Shield super. Players found that the melee attack during this super is more devastating than intended. Unlike the Warlocks’ situation, Bungie plans to adjust the Titan super’s damage output with a tweak scheduled for mid-December, ensuring it remains more powerful than it was before the Destiny 2 Version 8.1.5 patch but not overbearingly so.
These recent updates have sparked a divide among the player base regarding Bungie’s approach. Historically, Destiny 2 has had other instances where broken gear remained unfixed for extended periods. Warlock users are particularly disheartened by the swift action taken against their exotic gear, while Titan players are enjoying a bit more time with their overboosted ability. From a broader game balance perspective, it’s understandable why Bungie acted quickly to correct the Warlock issue, given the way it could topple challenging in-game content with little effort. Nonetheless, these decisions have left players with differing views on Bungie’s consistency and priorities in handling such matters.
