With Days Gone Remastered gearing up for its PlayStation 5 release, there’s a lot to be enthusiastic about, especially regarding the enhanced accessibility features on offer. Building on the foundation laid by the original 2019 edition, this remastered version is focusing on making your journey through the Broken Road as user-friendly and adaptable as ever. Let’s explore what’s new!
### Visual Features
Days Gone now offers even more flexibility with subtitle customization. Players can pick from 11 different subtitle colors not just for the dialogue but for the speaker’s name as well. Want to mix one color for the text and another for the speaker? Easy! Besides colors, subtitle backgrounds now have various options, transitioning from the simple toggle of the original to choices that include transparent, darkened, light, or complete black backgrounds.
One standout improvement in Days Gone Remastered is the fully customizable High Contrast Mode, which complements the existing High Contrast HUD. This feature makes navigation even more intuitive with two preset options—Primary and Secondary—or by allowing you to personalize your settings, choosing colors for in-game elements such as your hero and enemies from 11 different hues. The high contrast tools aim to enhance visibility during gameplay.
Players can now access these features and more before even diving into the game, thanks to an Initial Setup screen upon the first launch. Further tweaks can also be managed from the Accessibility tab in the main menu, which now offers real-time previews so you can see your settings in action before you start playing.
### Audio Features
The remaster also boasts a revamped audio mix alongside two new accessibility-focused audio features: UI Narration and Collectible Audio Cues.
UI Narration helps navigate through menus and on-screen elements like Inventory and Skills by reading out key information. This feature is enabled by default the first time you boot up the game, though you can switch it off if you prefer.
Finding collectibles scattered throughout the open world of Days Gone’s Pacific Northwest is now easier with Collectible Audio Cues. These sound alerts will help you locate items more efficiently, their intensity increasing as you get closer, enhanced by haptic feedback through your DualSense controller.
### Gameplay Features
Getting through hordes of enemies, maneuvering with your Drifter bike, or sneaking past ambush camps is now more accessible with additional features. Fully remappable controls allow you to tailor your gameplay style using the DualSense controller and even the PlayStation Access controller.
A new Game Speed adjustment lets you manage how quickly the gameplay unfolds, helping you enjoy the game at speeds that go as low as 25%. This is particularly valuable during the intense, iconic Horde battles of Days Gone, especially with the new Horde Assault mode in the remaster.
Extra updates include Recenter Camera on Attack, sliders for haptic vibration intensity, a customizable Field of View, and Persistent Center Dot options. Our previously exclusive auto-complete QTE feature is now usable across all difficulty levels, not just Easy mode.
These updates are not just limited to the PlayStation version; many will also be available for Days Gone on PC.*
At Bend Studio, our mission is to craft memorable gaming experiences for everyone, embracing inclusivity at every step. We hope you thoroughly enjoy this ultimate iteration of our open-world saga and can’t wait for you to jump back on your Drifter bike when Days Gone Remastered drops on April 25, 2025.
*Note: Updating to a version higher than Build ID 10034136 with Patch 1.08 is required. UI Narration isn’t supported for the Broken Road DLC on PC. A compatible controller is necessary for haptic feedback and customized controls. For the full functionality of the DualSense controller, a wired connection is needed.
