Nintendo has laid out its strategy, emphasizing the importance of exclusive games as they gear up for the launch of the Nintendo Switch 2.
This insight came from a shareholder query about the future of game releases once the new console takes center stage on store shelves.
Responding to the question, Nintendo’s president Shuntaro Furukawa mentioned, “To date, we’ve announced Pokémon Legends: Z-A and Metroid Prime 4: Beyond for the Nintendo Switch, both slated for a 2025 release. With a strong player base still engaged with the Switch, we hope to keep delivering compelling software if we can continue to create captivating titles.”
He added, “However, exclusive games play a pivotal role when introducing new hardware. Bearing this in mind, we’re exploring various strategies to encourage people to enjoy our games on both the current Switch and the upcoming Switch 2.”
For those eager to know more about the upcoming console, details will be revealed during a Nintendo Direct: Nintendo Switch 2 presentation. Tune in at 6am PT / 9am ET / 2pm BST / 3pm CEST on Wednesday, April 2.
While global release plans are set for 2025, the exact date for the Nintendo Switch 2’s premiere remains under wraps.
