Imagine something you never thought possible: exploring a movie set from the comfort of wherever you are right now. This experience includes all the sets, stunts, and actors, with director Eli Roth as your personal guide.
We’re thrilled to introduce a fascinating new video, captured from the set of the eagerly anticipated video game adaptation, Borderlands. Eli Roth joined forces with Light Sail VR to film some amazing behind-the-scenes moments featuring stars like Cate Blanchett, Kevin Hart, and Ariana Greenblatt. Now, while this footage is especially captivating in VR, it’s also quite impressive when viewed in standard 2D format.
Eli Roth expressed his enthusiasm for this project, “I’ve been a fan of VR since 2018, shooting with a GoPro 360. During the pandemic, set visits weren’t practical, so I wanted to offer fans a glimpse of what it’s like to be on the set of Borderlands. You’ll witness the incredible work our art department in Budapest did, and you’ll feel like you’re right there with the actors during action rehearsals. You’ll see Cate Blanchett and Ariana Greenblatt performing breathtaking stunts, like leaping from a falling truck bed. Collaborating with Light Sail VR allowed us to craft a vivid experience that puts you in the heart of the action, capturing the essence of being on set with us in the thrilling world of Borderlands.”
So, without further ado, let’s dive into it.
In Borderlands, Cate Blanchett portrays a legendary bounty hunter who returns to her home planet, Pandora, on a mission to locate the missing daughter of the sinister Atlas, played by Edgar Ramírez. Along her journey, she joins forces with an unlikely group of allies to unravel one of the planet’s most intriguing mysteries. The film features an ensemble cast including Kevin Hart, Jack Black, Ariana Greenblatt, Florian Munteanu, Gina Gershon, and Jamie Lee Curtis. It’s set to hit theaters on August 9.
