A new opportunity has just opened up for PS5 gamers to dive into a racing adventure without spending a penny. Nacon has generously unveiled a free trial for their latest racing title, Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown. From today until Tuesday, December 31, players can immerse themselves in the game with no content restrictions. However, if you plan on racing online, a PS Plus membership is required.
Currently, this exciting trial is exclusive to the PS5, and you can easily find it on the PS Store. Nacon did hint at plans to expand these trials to other platforms, but as of now, they’re staying tight-lipped on specific details.
Recently shared on Twitter, the announcement revealed that from December 27 at 9 AM UTC to December 31 at 9 AM UTC, players can freely explore mesmerizing locales like Hong Kong Island and Ibiza’s vibrant capital, all from behind the wheel of some truly outstanding cars.
Initially launched in September 2024, Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown received a mixed bag of reviews. It holds a Metacritic score of 55/100 for its PS5 version, and only a small 7% of critics on OpenCritic recommend the game. Many of the concerns pointed out seem to revolve around the game’s less-than-impressive visuals and overall polish, especially when stacked against its competitors in the racing genre. Despite carrying a ‘PS5 Pro enhanced’ label, the impact on gameplay remains unclear.
This free trial gives players a chance to judge for themselves, whether they’re using a PS5 or a PS5 Pro. A detail yet to be confirmed, though, is whether the progress made during the trial will seamlessly transition to the full game. Unfortunately, this crucial bit of info remains absent from the trial’s PS Store page.
