John Gonzalez, the creative mind behind the story of Fallout: New Vegas, has made his way back to Obsidian.
He broke the news on LinkedIn, clarifying that while he’s excited to be back with the team, he’s not involved in any developments related to Fallout: New Vegas 2. Gonzalez’s initial stint at Obsidian was between 2008 and 2011. Before that, he gathered experience at Ubisoft in Shanghai, further strengthening his creative credentials.
After his time at Obsidian, Gonzalez took his talents to Warner Bros’ Monolith Productions. There, he was instrumental in shaping Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor as the lead narrative designer over two and a half years. His journey then led him to Guerrilla Games in the Netherlands, where he contributed as a narrative director for Horizon: Zero Dawn. Most recently, he spent almost three years working at Smilegate’s Barcelona studio.
Amidst his impressive career in the gaming world, Gonzalez is also venturing into literature. He plans to release a novel titled “God Mode: Single Player,” slated for a 2025 release.
