The innovative team at The Binary Mill has some thrilling news for PlayStation VR 2 owners: their space exploration and mining adventure game, “Into Black,” is gearing up for a debut on this platform in 2024. After enjoying an exclusive stint on the Quest system, fans of Deep Rock Galactic-inspired gameplay have a new frontier to explore.
When the game first launched on Quest back in October, it captivated players with its mix of solo and cooperative modes, accommodating up to four players. The gameplay revolves around the exciting pursuit of resources, tool upgrades, and spacecraft repairs. Across its expansive 20-plus levels, which feature a variety of distinct biomes, players will face off against diverse enemies. Your mission? Gather enough parts to escape this perilous alien planet.
What’s exciting for PSVR 2 users is the inclusion of the fresh ‘Singularity’ mode. This online multiplayer component pits you against up to 11 other players. “Form fragile alliances as you navigate a progressively constricting labyrinth,” the developers explain. “Amass treasure, but beware—overreach might just trap you for good.”
But that’s not the only upgrade; the PSVR 2 version of “Into Black” receives a substantial visual and functional overhaul. Expect beautifully remastered environments enhanced by dynamic lighting, shadow effects, and HDR support. Additionally, the game introduces eye-tracked foveated rendering and refined haptic feedback, thanks to PS Sense’s adaptive triggers and the rumble feature in the PSVR 2 headset.
As of now, it’s unclear if this new version will support cross-play with Quest users, but inquiries have been made to the studio for further clarification. While a comprehensive trailer showcasing these improvements is still in the works, The Binary Mill has teased us with some tantalizing images and a few animated gifs to give PSVR 2 users a taste of what’s to come.
Although there’s no official release date yet, the studio reassures us that it’s on the horizon. Meanwhile, eager fans can add “Into Black” to their wishlist on the PlayStation Store as they await its arrival on PSVR 2.
