In February 2025, a month not exactly brimming with major video game launches (though, to be fair, one significant game did get pushed back), we’ll see the debut of another intriguing title that might just capture your interest. Enter Keep Driving, a unique driving RPG where battles unfold in a turn-based manner as you gather a variety of items.
If you haven’t encountered this delightfully eccentric game yet, I got a chance to try it during Steam’s Next Fest last year. My experience was mostly positive, with only one unfortunate demise courtesy of a deceptively innocent puddle. The premise is delightfully straightforward: embark on a road trip to a friend’s house, navigating both your personal needs and the various hazards that driving inevitably throws at you.
Keep Driving is set to release in its entirety on February 6th on PC via Steam, as announced by the Swedish team behind it, YCJY Games, through a friendly tweet.
Accompanying this announcement is a new trailer showing snippets of turn-based car battles involving everything from tractors to sheep and even potholes. It also teases additional vehicles you can pack with all the essentials for you, your car, and any hitchhikers you might pick up along the way. I have to admit, even though I grew fond of the demo’s vehicle reminiscent of a Volvo, I’m tempted by the thought of cruising around in a pickup truck, appealing to the Johnny Cash fan in me.
For now, Keep Driving is exclusive to PC, but one of the developers hinted at a potential console release eventually, mentioning they’re “not really sure which consoles yet, besides Switch.” Fingers crossed for a PS2 version, so I can jump between this and Need For Speed Underground seamlessly.
As we await the full release, I’m eager to see if Keep Driving can top the vibes that made the demo such a hit for me the first time around.
