Imagine this: you’re not caught in some trippy dream or sucked into an elaborate promo stunt—although, admittedly, this is quite the coup for an American shoe brand. This November, Epic Games introduced a new cosmetic feature in Fortnite known as Kicks. It lets players jazz up their characters by selecting their footwear. So, yes, Zuko can now don officially licensed Nike sneakers in a battle royale setting with no legal hang-ups.
Fortnite unveiled Kicks with an initial batch of shoes made available across two drops, each offering a mix of styles at various price points. The first drop features four distinct pairs, starting with the classic white leather Nike sneakers priced at 800 V-bucks. If you’re craving something flashier, the galaxy-patterned high tops are available for 1,000 V-bucks. But, if you prefer a playful twist, the adorable Chomp Stompers shark slippers come in at a more budget-friendly 600 V-bucks.
Now, these Kicks don’t come cheap. You’d have to fork out $8.99 to snag 1,000 V-bucks, and players have already voiced concerns about the steep pricing. Another catch is that Kicks are compatible with only a select group of Fortnite characters. For instance, you can deck out Satoru Gojo and John Wick in snazzy new shoes, but poor Avatar Aang is left shoeless. Despite this limitation, there’s enough variety for players to concoct some delightfully quirky outfit combos.
