Helldivers 2 throws players right into the thick of an epic galactic conflict. The Meridia Singularity has already claimed two planets, and a third is on the brink of falling. The Automatons, relentless as ever, have just launched their fearsome Incineration Corps, and they’re steadily gaining ground. The beloved world of Malevelon Creek is now under siege, sparking a rally among battle-hardened veterans eager to defend the site of one of the most infamous battlegrounds of the second galactic war.
During the initial battle for Malevelon Creek, players were yet to establish scientific outposts or factories on conquered worlds. Back then, planet preferences were based largely on their climates and environments. Hellmire, for example, is much loathed because of its fiery tornadoes, while Malevelon Creek earned the nickname “Robot Vietnam” thanks to its dense, shadowy jungles.
A year ago, facing Automatons was a much tougher ordeal. Helldivers didn’t have tools like the Portable Hellbomb or capable all-terrain vehicles. Meanwhile, the Automatons boasted lock-on targeting, an almost unlimited field of vision, and the nasty trick of trapping players in endless ragdoll animations. The Severin sector witnessed some of the fiercest clashes, spattering across Tibit, Durgen, Maia, Malevelon Creek, and nearby Draupnir. While bugdivers enjoyed a smoother ride on the Terminid front, botdivers faced relentless battles in Severin.
Despite facing such relentless enemies, players embraced Arrowhead’s galactic war storyline and redoubled their efforts to hold Malevelon Creek. Their tenacity won them two capes, a prestigious recognition, and ensured Malevelon Creek remained unscathed for a full year. Canonically, it now holds the highest number of Helldiver casualties outside Super Earth, standing as a stark, somber monument to the previous conflicts.
While the Automatons haven’t breached Malevelon Creek yet, the Major Order is expected to continue for about five more days, leaving room for things to heat up. So far, Helldivers have successfully defended planets like Pöpli IX and Ingmar. Some players are meticulously crafting battle strategies to stay the course, while others take a lighter approach, enjoying camaraderie and memes with fellow players.
The Singularity looms large, and new Terminid mutations might be festering in the ominous Gloom. However, there’s an undeniable thrill in immersing oneself in this adventure, rallying to defend Malevelon Creek. Personally, my skills as a Helldiver have grown tremendously; I’ve climbed from tackling difficulty level 4 to charging into level 10 battles. I’m more than ready to guard the Creek against the dreaded Automatons, known for their gruesome habits. Propaganda or otherwise, those berserkers with human skulls on their armor certainly make it believable.
These Major Orders aren’t just updates; they weave the ongoing saga of Helldivers 2. As we anxiously watch the situation at the Creek unfold, players are fired up and committed to defending what they cherish. The sprawling galactic war may never truly end, but some battles, and the stories tied to them, deserve to be remembered and protected fiercely.
