Slavic Magic has given us a sneak peek into what’s coming next in Manor Lords, and it’s certain to stir up excitement among its fans. With the introduction of bridge-building, revamped deep mining, fresh maps, and an overstocking mechanism, these updates are set to enrich the gaming experience. Players won’t have to wait long to test these features as they will soon be available in the game’s public beta.
Released in early access in April 2024, Manor Lords quickly made a splash, selling over a million copies within the first day and more than 2.5 million by September. A labor of passion over seven years by a single developer, it has captured the admiration of many for its authenticity to the medieval era and inventive gameplay. One of its most lauded aspects is its flexible building system, which allows for the creation of towns that grow in a natural, historical fashion. Though still in early access, the developer continues to unveil what’s in store with upcoming updates.
In a detailed blog post, the developer elaborated on the delightful new elements set to enhance the game. The bridge-building feature stands out, providing a seamless way to link regions across rivers, adding both utility and aesthetic appeal to your settlements. Additionally, the revamped deep mining mechanic with enhanced animations will immerse players further as their workers delve underground for resources, increasing the game’s sense of realism.
Promised in previous teasers are two new maps—High Peaks and Winding River. These will offer unique landscapes for exploration and construction. Moreover, a new map selection tool is being introduced, simplifying the choice of gameplay settings. Resource management is also getting a boost with the overstock mechanic, allowing players to build a reserve of goods, which is especially beneficial for managing bigger settlements.
Another welcome improvement is in unit management; players can now effortlessly reorganize their army units using a simple drag-and-drop method. These latest enhancements will soon be ready for trial during the public beta phase.
Despite these positive updates, some in the community have been vocal about the perceived slow pace of development earlier in the year. Addressing these concerns, the publisher has justified the studio’s deliberate progress, focusing on sustainable growth rather than rushing into a live-service model that might lead to exhaustion. As players eagerly await to dive into the latest additions, the developer remains steadfast in their commitment to refining the game for the best user experience.
