Sanzaru Games, the creative team behind the Asgard’s Wrath series, has recently rolled out the final content update for Asgard’s Wrath 2, which is exclusive to Quest. Now, they’re hinting at a shift towards their upcoming project.
As reported by MIXED, Sanzaru’s latest update is the culmination of their work on Asgard’s Wrath 2, a continuation of their groundbreaking game, Asgard’s Wrath, originally launched on the Rift in 2019.
Titled ‘The Long Winter’, this twelfth and last ‘Cosmic Event’ launched last week. It introduces a new set of monthly challenges for players, with the chance to rack up points and unlock unique cosmetic items.
Asgard’s Wrath 2 debuted in late 2023 and is available on the Quest 2 and later versions, providing more than 60 hours of campaign gameplay, not even counting the time players can spend on the monthly Cosmic Events.
“This is our last major title update for Asgard’s Wrath 2,” announced the game’s Community Manager on the Sanzaru Discord channel. “Looking ahead, you should expect fewer updates. Our focus will shift to addressing major issues and bugs. Development for new content on Asgard’s Wrath 2 will not continue. We wanted to be transparent, as our community has been keenly asking about the future.”
Looking forward, Sanzaru mentions gearing up to “switch focus and work on some AWESOME stuff. When we’re ready, we can’t wait to share our next big thing with our community.”
As of now, it’s unclear what Sanzaru’s next project will be. Since their acquisition by Meta (formerly Facebook) in 2020, the studio has concentrated on creating exclusive titles for Meta’s XR headset lineup. With two massively successful titles under their belt, Sanzaru has honed their RPG skills significantly, suggesting that their next venture could be another exciting addition to the genre.
