Today marks an exciting day for virtual boxing enthusiasts as Halfbrick Studios, along with Ian Fitz, the original mind behind The Thrill of the Fight (2016), have unveiled the eagerly anticipated sequel. This new chapter in the iconic boxing sim series is now available for Early Access on Quest devices.
The Thrill of the Fight 2 has been completely redesigned and is ready for action on Quest headsets, including the Quest 2, Quest 3, Quest 3S, and Quest Pro. While the first installment focused heavily on player versus environment (PvE) battles, this sequel is debuting with one of the most requested features: online player versus player (PvP) boxing.
The folks at Halfbrick Studios are thrilled to announce, “The early version of the game includes multiplayer modes exclusively, allowing fans who have been itching for online play to dive in right away.” They also shared that single-player content, as well as improvements to multiplayer, are on the way and will be rolled out progressively during the Early Access phase.
Their plans for development stretch into 2025, promising the addition of single-player experiences featuring AI opponents with dynamic behaviors and appearances, plus a variety of new training modes. These updates aim to enhance the game’s fully immersive atmosphere, bringing in fresh content and polish throughout Early Access.
As of now, players can enjoy customizable avatars and an online PvP mode featuring skill-based matchmaking that promises a “realistic boxing experience” thanks to its lifelike physics. Additionally, The Thrill of the Fight 2 introduces a spectator camera, allowing fans to watch your matches from a ‘live sports’ perspective through a connected PC.
For those eager to lace up their virtual gloves, The Thrill of the Fight 2 is up for grabs on the Horizon Store for just $10.
