Last month, Nintendo finally unveiled the Nintendo Switch 2, putting an end to the many rumors and supposed leaks circulating about their next-generation console. This announcement was met with excitement from fans and industry watchers alike.
In a brief reveal video, Nintendo offered a peek at the console’s sleek design, hinted at the development of a new Mario Kart game, and confirmed that this new hardware will indeed be backwards compatible with games from the original Switch.
Nintendo went on to explain that the Switch 2 will support both physical and digital games from the original Nintendo Switch library. However, they did caution that some games might not work on the new system or may have compatibility issues.
This next iteration of the beloved console is set for a 2025 global release, but the exact launch date remains under wraps for now.
