There’s good news for fans of the classic Resident Evil Director’s Cut who are subscribed to PS Plus Premium or Deluxe. A recent stealth update has improved the game by allowing players to switch to a better version. Previously, gamers in regions limited to the weaker PAL version can now switch to the faster NTSC version, which is more aligned with the American release.
It seems like Sony is on a roll, steadily enhancing PS Plus classic games by introducing region-switching features. Back in 2022, we highlighted how PAL versions of classic games suffered from slower speeds and lower frame rates compared to their NTSC versions, creating a less-than-ideal experience for players in specific areas. Sony assured users that they would provide NTSC options when feasible and they’ve been true to their word.
The Resident Evil Director’s Cut is the latest title to receive this update, as first noted by Reddit user the_andshrew.
For those not subscribed to PS Plus Premium who were waiting for the NTSC version, you can now purchase it directly from the PS Store as a standalone item. And just so you know, if you’ve previously purchased this game on older platforms like PS3, PSP, or Vita, you might qualify for a free upgrade where applicable. To check, simply log into your PS Store account, visit the game’s page, and you’ll find out if you can download it at no extra cost.
