A Horror Theme and a Modest List of Additions
Let’s not beat around the bush. "The Garden Awakens" might not go down in history as Minecraft’s most groundbreaking update. The nature of these "Game Drops" leans towards a more restrained approach, which is reflected here. While the list of freshly added content isn’t lengthy, there’s still plenty to lure players back into the Overworld.
Centered entirely around The Pale Garden, "The Garden Awakens" offers a mysterious new forest biome for players to discover. This place is shrouded in foreboding tones and feels lifeless, until night falls, that is. Lurking here is The Creaking, easily the most intimidating creature to ever haunt Minecraft’s realm. These tree-like beasts only move when you’re not watching, becoming still the second you lock eyes on them. Yet, defeating them isn’t straightforward—they’re essentially invincible unless you locate the Creaking Heart nestled in a nearby tree. Destroy this and you vanquish The Creaking. Of course, you could always take the Creaking Heart for yourself and conjure a Creaking army wherever you see fit.
Besides The Creaking, The Pale Garden is also where you’ll find Pale Oak trees and Pale Moss, both of which you can use to build intriguing new structures. Stirring The Creaking into action at night can also yield resin, a novel material to enhance your creations. Finally, witness the beauty of eyeblossoms, unique flowers that bloom only at night, casting a luminescent orange glow in the darkness.
Set to roll out on December 3rd, 2024, Minecraft’s "The Garden Awakens" update will be available for players on Xbox, Windows PC, PlayStation, Switch, mobile devices, and through Xbox Game Pass. It represents a smaller-scale update, yet it carries with it one of the most eerie atmospheres we’ve seen from Mojang. While we’re yet to hear what the future holds for Minecraft, rest assured, more adventures are on the horizon.
