In a recent conversation with the BBC, Roblox CEO Dave Baszucki addressed concerns regarding the potential risks associated with the platform by emphasizing a straightforward approach for parents: if you’re uneasy about it, simply prevent your children from using it.
Baszucki, who co-founded the online gaming platform, shared his perspective on the matter, stating that even a single negative experience is one too many. “If you’re not comfortable, then don’t let your kids be on Roblox,” he advised, acknowledging the counter-intuitive nature of his suggestion. Nonetheless, he expressed complete trust in parents to make choices that suit their family best.
When questioned about the reports highlighting negative encounters and malicious users on Roblox, Baszucki elaborated on the company’s firm stance. “Within our organization, we hold a zero-tolerance policy toward any negative incidents,” he explained. “We vigilantly monitor for bullying and harassment, applying extensive filtering measures. Moreover, if necessary, our interventions extend to collaborating with law enforcement.”
The conversation surrounding these issues has intensified, especially in light of recent reports concerning harmful individuals exploiting Roblox. In response, the company has intensified its efforts to strengthen child safety measures to ease these worries.
