Lately, there’s been some buzz circulating, particularly after an IGN story, regarding the anticipated pre-order date for the Nintendo Switch 2 in North America. Contrary to what some folks might have heard, Nintendo hasn’t officially changed the pre-order date. The buzz mainly stems from details in Nintendo’s FAQ page. This page mentions that the initial batch of invites for their pre-order program is expected to roll out on May 8th. Interestingly, that date has been sitting there since the page was first unveiled on April 2nd, just a couple of days before the delay was announced. We backed this up by checking an earlier version of the site using the Wayback Machine, verifying that this information was indeed there from the start.
Originally, the pre-orders for the Switch 2 hit a bump in the road due to some hefty tariffs introduced by President Donald Trump, impacting shipments to the U.S. Fortunately, these tariffs have seen a considerable rollback after a 90-day pause. Even so, Nintendo hasn’t yet provided any fresh details on when pre-orders will officially kick off in North America.
