If the small screens of existing devices have left you unsatisfied, Tencent might have just the thing for you. According to Videocardz, the company has announced what might be better described as a portable console rather than a traditional handheld: the Sunday Dragon 3D One. Sporting a powerful Intel Lunar Lake CPU, this behemoth of a device comes with an impressive 11-inch display for a more captivating viewing experience—if you can manage to hold it comfortably, that is.
The 3D One is endowed with the Core Ultra 7 258V, which includes four P-Cores (Lion Cove), four E-Cores (Skymont), and an Arc 140V iGPU with eight Xe2 cores. Through comprehensive testing, we’ve observed that Intel’s latest Lunar Lake processors are now on par with AMD’s Strix Point (Ryzen AI 300 APUs) in terms of gaming performance. The device boasts 32GB of LPDDR5X-8533 RAM, ideal for today’s demanding tasks, though it’s not upgradeable due to being soldered directly onto the CPU die. On the storage front, it features a “high-speed” 1TB SSD that should be upgradable for those seeking even higher speeds or capacity.
What makes the 3D One particularly exciting is that it might be the first Lunar Lake handheld to hit the market—assuming it does so within this year, since MSI’s Claw 8 AI+ isn’t expected until early 2025. However, caution is warranted as Videocardz has indicated that this device is still a prototype—at least for now. With its sizable 11-inch 2560×1440 display and a smooth 120Hz refresh rate, the 3D One could double as a pseudo-laptop due to its large dimensions. In contrast, GPD is preparing its Pocket 4 mini-laptops, but those have a maximum screen size of 8.8 inches. Tencent’s latest creation introduces real-time eye-tracking technology designed for a glasses-free 3D (autostereoscopic) experience. Reports suggest they’ve optimized a selection of games—such as Path of Exile, Blade & Soul, and Arena Breakout: Infinite—to take full advantage of this technology.
Accompanying images provide a glimpse into what the device might look like, revealing the unique design approach Tencent is pioneering. The pre-installed controllers feature Hall Effect joysticks, linear triggers, and two customizable rear buttons. They’re detachable, so if you’d prefer to use third-party alternatives, you can do so—provided they fit the 3D One’s unconventional size. Fast-charging support of up to 100W is available, although the battery capacity hasn’t been disclosed yet.
Understanding the 3D One’s rather quirky design ethos is key. While handhelds are typically designed for ergonomic comfort during prolonged gaming sessions, this device throws convention out the window in favor of a grander experience. Small screens often fail to do justice to the depth and majesty of modern games, so it seems Tencent is challenging this notion. Currently in its development stages, the 3D One remains a prototype with potential geographic and supply limitations given its niche appeal.
