As January rolls in, Xbox enthusiasts find themselves facing another bout of server closures, marking a rather somber start to the year. To help you navigate this wave of shutdowns, we’ve compiled a guide listing all the Xbox servers scheduled to go offline in January 2025, neatly accompanying our December 2024 rundown.
### January 2025 Xbox Server Shutdowns
First up on the list, 2K Games initially planned to close the WWE 2K23 servers by the end of September, but this got postponed to January. If you’re playing on Xbox Series X|S or Xbox One, circle January 6 on your calendar. On this date, WWE 2K23’s online capabilities will cease, taking with them 13 achievements per stack. Notably, WWE 2K23 has already been removed from the Xbox store, limiting new players’ access.
Moving to the fairways and greens, the EA Sports Rory McIlroy PGA Tour servers are set to close on January 16. This golfing favorite has a pair of online-exclusive achievements, Playing For Fun and Playing For Rank. These achievements involve nothing more than participating in an unranked head-to-head game. However, bear in mind that two other achievements are already unobtainable, leaving some completionists just short of full achievement glory.
Lastly, Bandai Namco’s Blue Protocol will no longer be available after January 18. This free-to-play MMORPG, which was unfortunately never launched in the West, can only be accessed via the Japanese Xbox store. The game’s server closure will render all its achievements unattainable, but given its limited release, it’s likely that few players are impacted.
In case you weren’t aware, a massive 19 Xbox games are set to be delisted in December 2024, including some standout titles. Are there any online achievements you’re hurrying to nab before these games vanish? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
