3R Games, the creative minds behind Thief Simulator VR: Greenview Street (released in 2022), have announced a milestone achievement with their game selling over 310,000 units exclusively on the Quest platform.
In a recent announcement on X (formerly Twitter), the studio highlighted these impressive sales figures, noting that they account for all Quest devices including the Quest 2, Quest 3, Quest 3S, and Quest Pro. It’s worth mentioning, however, that the game is also available for PlayStation VR 2, broadening its reach even further.
The developers have confirmed these are actual sales numbers. With the game’s regular pricing at $20 for Quest users, it theoretically could have generated up to $6.2 million in revenue. Of course, that figure is somewhat flexible, as the game often sees discounts, recently even dropping to $9. Despite these sales, additional revenue streams have been provided by the game’s expansion packs, further boosting its financial success to a comfortable multimillion-dollar range.
Thief Simulator VR: Greenview Street hit the virtual shelves in July 2022, bringing to VR the immersive experience of heists and infiltration familiar from the original Thief Simulator, released in 2018 by Noble Muffins. Unlike the earlier Thief Simulator VR developed by GameBoom VR in 2020, which was limited to PC VR platforms, Greenview Street hones in on the distinctive neighborhood that gives the game its name.
Post-launch, 3R Games continued to enrich the gameplay experience with several paid DLC additions, introducing new environments such as Richie R. Street, The Motel, and Spooky House, not to mention a selection of paid cosmetic upgrades. For those playing on Quest, there’s even a comprehensive bundle available that packs the base game and all its DLC content for a bargain price of $23.
