Warner Bros has reportedly decided to pull the plug on an expansion for Hogwarts Legacy. According to Bloomberg, this expansion was supposed to be released alongside a planned Definitive Edition of the Harry Potter action RPG, promising fresh storylines. However, it seems Warner Bros deemed the content insufficient to merit the price tag they had in mind. This expansion was being worked on by the original game’s developer, Avalanche Software, alongside Rocksteady. Interestingly, Avalanche is rumored to be working on a sequel to Hogwarts Legacy as well.
In a related development, Rocksteady recently faced layoffs following its announcement to discontinue support for the 2024 title, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. Last year, Warner Bros openly admitted that their gaming division wasn’t performing as well as expected, which led to a massive $200 million write-off for Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. In a bid to cut costs, the company has shuttered three of its studios, one being Monolith, and its longstanding head, David Haddad, recently stepped down.
